Avocado Seed Amulet

I make each avocado seed amulet by hand.

I thought of the idea of making these avocado seed necklaces over 10 years ago.
I was living in California and obsessed with avocados. For some reason, I started saving the seeds and noticed when they dried they almost became like petrified wood. 

From there I started experimenting with making necklaces. 

I always loved being surrounded by nature whether it be walking in the woods, burying my face and hands in the dirt or lying on the ground in the rain. That is when I felt the most calm and strong.

Wearing my avocado seed is a way I can carry that strength and calm with me. 

Some of the avocados are burned with my own branding tool design I created. 
The design is meant to exemplify my desire to lift the cares of my community, and to a larger scale, be a part of a movement to nurture and connect to the earth. 

One of my values is to provide clean water for all beings. I monthly give to Innovation: Africa and Water Wells for Africa and hope to incorporate this into the process of buying my necklaces someday. 

Another dream is planting trees. They are amazing natural filtration systems and also aide in the process of clean water. I monthly give to One Tree Planted and want to also incorporate this into the process of buying my necklaces.

Lastly, I want to support and help those who are homeless by providing sleeping bags and umbrellas. This part I am still working out, but again, desire for my art to help make the space for the people around me better in some way. 

My dream started out on a larger scale with the planet, but then I thought, if I want to change the world, perhaps I should start with my immediate world. 
I needed to start with my community.
